Threadless
A Community Based T-Shirt Site
Threadless is the most community-based and community-driven t-shirt sites that I have ever seen. They also have one of the biggest catalogs around. I was impressed that every shirt design is modeled, unlike a lot of sites, which just show you the shirt by itself. They've got both funny designs and shirts that are just plain cool-looking.
So what exactly makes this a community based site? First of all, they are constantly excepting shirt designs from people like you. You can submit your design to the community for a critique, and if your design is chosen, you get $2500, and a chance for up to $10,000 more if your design wins a shirt. You can comment on t-shirt ideas whenever you want.
Another community-based aspect of the site is what they call "The Street Team." This allows you to earn points toward free shirts from the site. Submit a picture of yourself wearing a Threadless tee, and you get 1 point (10 points if they feature your picture). If you link your friends to Threadless (like I'm doing on this site), and they make a purchase, you get 2 points. 1 point = $1.50 toward shirts.
They also have some pretty creative and interesting programs. For instance, they have something they call the "12 club." For $200, you sign up to receive 1 exclusive shirt every month for a year. Plus you get a $30 gift certificate, so you'll have enough shirts to last you a long time.
The Bottom Line
I think that you'll really love Threadless. Whether you're just browsing for some tees to purchase, or are a designer looking for places to submit some designs, Threadless is for you. It's one of the more innovative sites that I've seend. Fully recommended.
